Diwali activities by students of Rotary-Red Cross Swagati Special Children School
(28th October 2024)
On 28th October 2024 on the occasion of Diwali festival clay lamp, rangoli, Laxmi Pooja kit, different types of decorative lanterns (Kandil) were prepared by the students of Rotary-Red Cross Swagati Special Children School run at the premises of IRCS Solapur District Branch. This vocational training initiative not only enhances their practical skills but also encourages creativity & entrepreneurial thinking among the students.
First Aid Training for employees of Inergy Infra Pvt. Ltd.

Haemophilia patients assistance program, Factor VIII distribution, self-infusion and physiotherapy camp
(25th September 2024)
On 25th September 2024 haemophilia patients assistance program, Factor VIII distribution, self-infusion and physiotherapy camps was organised by Indian Red Cross Society Solapur District Branch in collaboration with Lakshmi Haemophilia Foundation. The program was led by Dr. Vikram Dable – Renowned Paediatrician of Solapur.
Dr. Rajiv Pradhan – Chairman, IRCS Solapur District Branch and Hon. Secretary Mr. Jayesh Patel distributed Factor VIII injection to the haemophilia patients from Intas Foundation. Dignitaries from Lakshmi Haemophilia Foundation, Intas Foundation along with office bearers of Solapur Red Cross were present on the occasion.
Lecture on Disaster Management, First Aid and CPR

On 30th August 2024 Indian Red Cross Society Solapur District Branch in collaboration with Family Planning Association of India and District Disaster Management, Solapur organised the Sprint IV Humanitarian program for the doctors, nurses and counsellors of Sub-District Hospital Pandharpur.
Dr. Rajiv Pradhan – Chairman, Solapur Red Cross, gave a lecture on Disaster Management, First Aid and CPR was demonstrated by a social worker. Mrs. Archana Bisoi -District Objection Management Officer, demonstrated reproductive health services in Disaster Management, Mr. Virendra Pardeshi of Family Planning spoke on pregnant mothers, new-born deaths and delay prevention and Mrs. Amarja Thite. Mr. Sugatratna Gaikwad of Family planning spoke about the services offered at the Sprint IV project.
Thalassemia Awareness Lecture at Backward Class Girls Hostel Solapur

On 23rd August 2024 Rotary Red Cross Thalassemia Centre delivered the Thalassemia Awareness Lecture at Backward Class Girls Hostel Solapur. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Rita Somani – BTO, IRCS Gopabai Damani Blood Centre, Solapur.
From 4th to 10th September 2024 lectures were given on thalassemia awareness at Shivdare College of Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Arts & Commerce, Shivdare College of Science. The lecture was delivered by Hon. Secretary Mr. Jayesh Patel, BTO Dr. Rita Somani, Ex. President of Rotary Club of Solapur Dr. Jyoti Chidgupkar. After the lecture, 259 students underwent blood tests.
75th anniversary of the Family Planning Association of India celebrated on 24th July 2024

On 24th July 2024 Family Planning Association of India Solapur and Indian Red Cross Society Solapur, Maharashtra State AIDS Control Society and allied organisations in Solapur jointly celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Family Planning Association of India. A training camp organized for school teachers in Solapur District under “Adolescent life skills education program.
Patron Member Dr. Suhasini Shah was the Chief Guest. Family Planning Association of India Solapur branch mentor Prof. Shrikant Yelegaonkar presided. Office bearers of Solapur Red Cross and members of local authority along with a large number of teachers and teachers of various schools and representatives of various social organizations were present.
Rotary Red Cross Thalassemia Centre inaugurated on 28th June 2024

Rotary Red Cross Thalassemia Centre was inaugurated at the Indian Red Cross Society Solapur Branch on 28th June 2024. The centre will conduct testing and counselling to prevent the next generation of thalassemia. The inaugural function was hosted by Rotary District Governor Swati Herkal. Chairman Dr. Rajiv Pradhan and Dr. Suhasini Shah, Director were present on the occasion.
Rotary International was represented by District Governor Swati Herkal, future Governor Rtn Jayesh Patel and Rotary Club of Solapur President Dr. Jyoti Chidgupkar. Fund of $50,710 was approved for the project. Further Mrs. Madhushree Ghadge of the US contributed $31,427, Smt. Falguni Patel and Mrs. Manisha Patel $1,050 each and from Precision Foundation Dr Suhasini Shah $1,300. Modern equipments were procured from these funds for the centre.
International Yoga Day celebrated on 21st June 2024

On 21st June 2024 International Yoga Day was celebrated by Indian Red Cross Society Solapur District Branch in association with Solapur Electronics Dealers Association (SEDA). Mr. Raghuraj Chauhan (Yog-guru of Art of Living) conducted session on Yoga at Solapur Red Cross premises. Total 54 yoga enthusiasts including Office bearers of Solapur Red Cross along with SEDA members participated.

On 20th & 21st June 2024 The Family Planning Association of India, Solapur and Indian Red Cross Society, Solapur jointly organized a two-day training camp on TRAINING ON MISP - Minimum Initial Service Package run by SPRINT IV - Humanitarian Program at Solapur Red Cross premises. Distribution of 2HP capacity flour mill to 27 needy women under Rotary ki Aasha initiative

On 14th June 2024 Indian Red Cross Society Solapur District Branch and Rotary Club of Solapur jointly distributed free 2HP capacity flour mill to 27 needy women. The initiative was considered by Rotary District Governor Ms. Swati Herkal under the "Rotary ki Aasha" initiative. 27 needy women have been made self-reliant.

Double centurion blood donor Shri Ashok Navre felicitated

On 1st June 2024 IRCS Solapur Smt. Gopabai Damani Blood Centre’s Administrative Officer & double centurion blood donor Shri Ashok Navre was felicitated by Chief Guest Shri Rajsekhar Shivdare - Chairman, Swami Samarth Soot Mill, Solapur and Mr. Jayesh Patel – Hon. Secretary, Solapur Red Cross and Shri Khushal Dedhia – Hon. Treasurer. This was Mr. Navre 234th time donation which was considered his last. Office bearers, blood centre’s staff and office bearers of Lions Club also were present on the occasion.
Two-day awareness program on menstrual management & hygiene

On 27th & 28th May 2024 a two-day awareness program on menstrual management & hygiene was organised by IRCS Solapur District Branch in association with Rotary clubs and TB Lulla Charitable Foundation, Sangli under Parivartan Prakalp - Astha at Red Cross Building, Solapur. Dr. Manjiri Kulkarni – Chief Medical Officer, Solapur Municipal Corporation was the Chief Guest. More than 425 women attended which included ASHA workers & Red Cross staff.
World Red Cross Day celebrated on 8th May 2024

On 8th May 2024 on the occasion of World Red Cross Day Indian Red Cross Society Smt. Gopabai Damani Blood Centre Solapur organised a blood donation camp at Gujarat Bhavan by Jai Jalaram Traders. Total 50 units collected. At the inaugural function of the camp Dr. Rajiv Pradhan-Chairman, Solapur Red Cross was present. He spoke about the importance of voluntary blood donation camp and how it is helpful for the blood centre during the summer season.
World Health Day celebrated on 7th April 2024

On 7th April 2024 on the occasion of World Health Day Indian Red Cross Society, Solapur District Branch, Rotary Club of Solapur and Rotary Club of Poona Downtown jointly distributed “Tricycle shops“ for their livelihood made in Solapur to 8 handicapped beneficiaries in collaboration with Shri Mukund Bhavan Trust.
The event was presided by Dr. Rajiv Pradhan – Chairman, Solapur Red Cross. Office bearers of Rotary Club of Solapur and members of Rotary Club of Poona Downtown were present on the occasion.
The eight Handicapped beneficiaries were selected through “Apulaki Divyang Seva foundation” and “Utkarsh Apang Sanstha".
On this occasion, Dr. Rajiv Pradhan spoke about the importance of "My health, my right" which is the theme of "World Health Day" 2024 and also gave a similar lecture at the Siddheshwar Women’s Engineering College, Solapur on 6th April 2024.

Event on the prevention of the Thalassemia disease

On 4th July 2023, in association with Indian Red Cross Society, District Branch Solapur, Family Planning Association of India, Indian Medical Association and Rotary Club of Solapur, arranged an event on the prevention of the Thalassemia disease at the premises of Red Cross Solapur
Renowned haematologist from Solapur, Dr. Sunil Hilalpure explained how to overcome thalassemia disease and what blood tests and care should be taken by the new couple to prevent the disease. A blood donation camp was also organised.

On 1st July 2023 on the occasion of "Doctor's Day" Red Cross Branch Solapur, Family Planning Association & Ashwini Sahakari Hospital & Research Center jointly felicitated six doctors at Ashwini Sahakari Hospital & Research Center, Solapur.

Further Indian Red Cross Society, Family Planning Association and Solapur Senior Citizens Coordination Committee Branch Solapur organized free health check-up and medication camp for senior citizens at the Red Cross Branch.
A Janjagruti programme was organised on generic medicines. 50 senior citizens were given free health check-up including blood tests and medicines. Medical Officer of the Red Cross Blood Center. International Day of Yoga was celebrated on 21st June 2023

International Day of Yoga was celebrated on 21st June 2023 at IRCS Smt. Gopabai Damani Blood Centre Solapur.
Dr. Swapnil Harhare (MD, DMH) in Herbal & Ayurveda medicine, acupressure & manual therapist gave information& demonstrated many asanas. Talked on how yoga and diet have a good effect on one’s body in today’s stressful &hectic life. Dr. Shubhada Dixit Ayurveda expert from the Blood Centre also gave guidance and demonstration on how meditation cures diseases.
The event was attended by Damani Blood Centre Hon. Secretary Shri. Jayesh Patel, Hon.Directors Dr. Shrikant Yelegaonkar & Shri Guruling Kannurkar, Branch Officer of Family Planning Association Shri. Sugatratna Gaikwad, colleagues, blood donors & all the staff of Blood Centre were present.
During the event, the children of the blood centre staff who achieved distinction in 10th and 12th standard were felicitated by the dignitaries. The programme was moderated by Mrs. Rajshree Jadhav, Mr. Amarja Thite, Mr. Tejshree Hebare, Sucheta Kulkarni and Mrs. Geetanjali Nanaware.

Indian Red Cross Society, Smt. Gopabai Damani Blood Centre Solapur celebrated World Blood Donor Day on 14th June 2023.
On this occasion blood donors who donated blood with apheresis as many times as possible during the high temperatures of April and May 2023 were felicitated.
Mr. Abhay Kulkarni, Mr. Sudhir Kadam and Mr. Lalit Dandi staff of Damani Blood Centre organized a blood donation camp through AS Foundation. A total of 101 donors donated blood.

World Red Cross Day celebrated on 8th May, 2023

On 8thMay 2023, the Indian Red Cross Society Solapur District Branch celebrated World Red Cross Day by organizing rangoli competition. Prizes were given to the participants of the competition. The Chief Guest of this function was the President of IMA, Solapur Dr. Kedar Kahate. On the occasion Chairman Dr. Rajiv Pradhan spoke about the Red Cross, Hon. Secretary Mr. Jayesh Patel spoke about the blood bank and Hon.Jt. Secretary Shri Khushal Dedhia gave a vote of thanks. Office bearers of Solapur Red Cross and Blood Centre’s staff were present.
Mobile Blood Collection Van of the Indian Red Cross Society, Solapur Branch was routed in various parts of Solapur city and total collection was from 19 blood donors.
On the occasion of World Thalassemia Day on May 9, 2023, IRCS Solapur District Branch celebrated by distributing food to the patients of Thalassemia Centre, at Smt. Gopabai Damani Blood Centre.Solapur.
The Thalassemia Centre was established in Solapur in 1987. Initially, the centre used to supply free blood to eight patients. At present, the centre is supplying free blood to 145 patients twice a month.
Patients come not only from Solapur but also from different parts of Solapur district. Some organizations in Solapur donate blood for these children through blood donation camps and blood donors.

HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigens) testing at subsidised rates for Thalassemia patients
(11th March 2023)
On 11th March 2023 Indian Red Cross Society’s Gopabai Damani Blood Centre, Solapur District Branch in collaboration with SRCC Children’s Hospital managed by Narayana Health, Mumbai started HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigens) testing at subsidised rates for Thalassemia patients requiring bone marrow transplant. Dr. Ruchira Mishra, (Sr. Dr. Ped. Hemto Oncology& BMT, SRCC Children’s Hospital) and Mr. Manmohan Dubey – Admin Dept., SRCC Children’s Hospital along with Office bearers of Red Cross Solapur were present. Total 13 Thalassemia patients including family siblings were tested. Overall 35 test done in this camp.

On 6th March 2023 IRCS Smt. Gopabai Damani Blood Centre, Solapur organised a Voluntary Blood Donation camp at ReNew Power Pvt., Ltd, Hasapur village, Tal Akkalkot, Solapur. Total 32 units collected.
Children's Day celebration at the thalassemia centre
(14th November 2022)
On 14th November 2022 Children's Day was celebrated by cutting a cake and giving chocolates and rose flowers to the children of thalassemia centre of Indian Red Cross Society, Smt Gopabai Damani Blood Centre. In this program Dr Rita Somani of Blood Center conducted free sugar check-up for all thalassemia children. Office bearers of IRCS Solapur were present.
LN4 Artificial Hand camp at Solapur

On 25th September 2022 a " LN4 Artificial Hand" camp was organised by Indian Red Cross Society, Solapur District Branch in collaboration with Rotary Clubs of Solapur, Rotary Clubs of Osmanabad at the premises of our Indian Red Cross Society. Total 50 beneficiaries were fitted with artificial hands.
