On 26th January, Republic Day "Divyang Prerana Award -” was handed to JalgaonDistrict Branch by Hon’ble Minister of State Mr. Sadbhau Khot. Ex District Collector Mr. Kishore Raje Nimbalkar and NMC Commissioner Mr. Chandrakant Dange were present during the function.
Red Cross has taken the responsibility to continue the Jalgaon District Disabled Rehabilitation Centre as per Center guidelines. The Red Cross-operated District Disability Rehabilitation Centre is doing excellent and inspirational work in the field of rehabilitation of disabled persons in Jalgaon District and in the mainstream of disabilities society and social and economic and physical rehabilitation of the disabled persons.
The center identifies the disabled enabling to link with the government approved facilities under this category. A technical team is formed at the center along with affiliated government and non-government NGO’s are also called upon to collaborate on need based.
Medical help, physiotherapy, psychotherapy, occupational therapy and technical training is given for their financial stability. Wheel chairs and other " aid " equipments are also given enabling minimum mobility. Special technical training is imparted to the teachers who further impart and educate the Divyangs.
IRCS , Jalgaon District Branch on the occasion of World Disability Day on 3rd December, DDRC( District Disability Rehabilitation Centre ) honored the best performing technologist with a certificate of participation. Also therapy and training was given to school children under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan ( SSA) Free registration for UDID card as well as distribution of materials was done. An assessment and inspection camp was organized for the prosthetic materials as the same was made available from Jalgaon MLA, Suresh Damu Bhole's MLA fund at Leva Bhavan. 170 people were checked at the camp.
On the occasion of World Disability Week, sweaters were distributed to the blind brothers, program jointly arranged by Indian Red Cross Society and National Federation of the Blind,Jalgaon Branch. The program was attended by 60 blind brothers from Jalgaon district. Red Cross Vice President Gani Memon, District Divyang Kendra Nodal Officer Shri. G.T. Mahajan, Executive Member Shri. Subhash Sankhala, Public Relations Officer Ujwala Verma, Secretary of the Federation of the Blind Shri. Hilal Sapkal, activists Shri. Sunil Gawde, Shri Swapnil Chaudhary were present.
Caliper distribution and therapy service camp was organized at DDRC office under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan for school crippled children. Calipers were distributed to 111 children at the event.
