The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) is a Voluntary Humanitarian Organization and is an auxiliary to the Government.
From its inception the main objective of Indian Red Cross Society has been medical relief and relief in times of disasters. Red Cross is mandated to provide training in First Aid which is part of Disaster Management. It trains people to save lives during emergencies and before medical help arrives.
The Maharashtra State Branch has been actively involved in conducting Disaster Management Training for public and private organizations along with educational institutions and various NGOs.

International Day for Disaster Reduction, held every 13 October, celebrates how people and communities around the world are reducing their exposure to disasters and raising awareness about the importance of reining in the risks that they face.
IRCS Maharashtra State Branch is a registered entity for undertaking CSR activities by the Government of India so that it can attract CSR funding from corporates and other organizations
